Our Story

Network of Hope was founded in 2001 by some of the members of Allison Park Church, with the goal of mobilizing individuals and families in local churches to serve individuals, families, and communities.

What was unique about this vision was the desire to be intra-church, rather than para-church.  A para-church organization works outside or around the church, but often needs to rent its own facilities, find its own volunteers, and start and manage new programming.

An intra-church organization leverages the pre-existing resources of the local churches in the community.  It is based out of a church building (or buildings). It leverages the volunteer base in those local churches, and improves and recruits for pre-existing and new programming housed in the church

This intra-church vision has enabled administrative costs to be low so that 100% of everything given to Network of Hope can go directly into programs that help people.

Over the years NOH has been actively involved in many churches throughout the Pittsburgh region, providing flood relief In Sharpsburg and Millvale in 2003, assisting with Recovery Homes for those dealing with drug addiction, and providing for assistance for food insecurity through an ongoing foodbank.
